Preventing Malware (Adbots)

To download (free) the program to remove Malware (Adbots):

1. Double-click Internet Explorer on your Display screen
2. Go to www.lavasoft.com
3. On the right side of the screen, click on the big orange button "Download Ad-Aware Free" .
4. Run the program & follow the next prompts by continuing to click Next
5. Click Finish
6. Close at the top right X

To remove Malware:

1. Double-click Ad-aware 2011 Icon on your Display screen
2. Click on the big Green Button in the center - Scan System
3. Select Full Scan
4. Click Scan Now at the bottom
5. The "Performing System Scan" window will display. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
6. When complete - select the Privacy Tab located at the top of the screen
7. Place a check in the box in the white center screen to select the items to be removed
8. Click Remove
9. Click Finish
10. To make sure your computer is clean of Malware, it is recommended that you reboot your computer and run the Ad-aware program again by clicking on the Ad-aware Icon on your display screen. We recommend you do the Perform system scan a minimum of once a week.

To Update your Ad-aware:

1. Double-click Ad-aware on your Display screen
2. In the lower right corner click on “Check for Updates Now”
3. Click on Connect
4. If there are Updates, click OK
5. Check for Updates once a week

Windows Updates

Steps for Windows Updates:

1. Click on Start
2. Go to Windows Update
3. Click on Scan for Updates
4. Pick Updates to install
5. For Critical Updates:
   1. Click on box next to Critical Updates
   2. Click on Review and Install Updates
   3. Click Install
   4. Click on Accept

Removal of Temporary Internet Files

• Open Internet Explorer
• Select Tools
• Select Internet Options
• In the center of the Internet Options window, click on Delete Files
• Select Delete Cookies

To Completely Remove All Temporary Files
of All Types From Your Computer

• Click on the Start Button
• Click on Computer in the Black area
• Right-click on “C” Drive
• Select Properties
• Select Disk Clean up
• It will calculate how much space will be gained by running the service
• In the Disk Clean up window, put check marks in everything that has a number next to it
• Click OK then Yes to delete them

Burning a CD in Windows 7

• Select your File or Files in the folder you want to copy
• Insert a CD or DVD into the disk drive
• Select Burn at the top of the Window
• Click OK
• That is it!

Backing up your Data in Windows 7

• Insert your flash drive
• Close any window that opens
• Click on the Start Button
• Right-Click on Documents in Black
• Point to Send To
• Click on the flash drive
• Repeat these steps for the Pictures & Music folders
